SOLAR COLLECTORS

The “Sphelar” is a matrix of tiny, spherical-shaped solar cells, about 1mm in diameter. It is based on entirely different geometry because of which it optimizes the use of reflected and indirect light. It is produced using a unique process whereby melted silicon is subjected to free fall, and spheres are formed naturally by the microgravity conditions, and there is hardly any waste of raw materials. Its flexible disposition also makes it appropriate for applications at a variety of scales, including mobile electronic devices.

Sphelar is perfect for situations where the installation of a flat solar cell would block the field of view. It is also possible to create “power-generating window glass” while maintaining a certain level of transparency. It is an environmentally-friendly product, not only in terms of performance but also during the production phase. We hope to see new applications appear which capitalize on the properties of Sphelar in a variety of different fields and situations.

SOLAR POOL HEATING

http://www.homepower.com/view/?file=HP113_pg30_Marken
If you have a pool and can’t wait for the summer swimming season to start, a solar pool-heating system may be exactly what you need. Besides extending the season by boosting the pool’s temperature, these relatively inexpensive, simple systems are efficient, durable, and virtually maintenance free. Even if you’re already heating your pool with natural gas or electricity, switching to the sun for heating can save you a bundle. With very few exceptions, you can recoup this investment more quickly.
